¹³ Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid.^(A) Stand firm and you will see^(B) the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see^(C) again.

¹⁴ The Lord will fight^(A) for you; you need only to be still.”^(B)

³⁰ The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight^(A) for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes,

Moses Forbidden to Cross the Jordan

²¹ At that time I commanded Joshua: “You have seen with your own eyes all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings. The Lord will do the same to all the kingdoms over there where you are going.

²² Do not be afraid^(A) of them;^(B) the Lord your God himself will fight^(C) for you.”

¹⁷ You may say to yourselves, “These nations are stronger than we are. How can we drive them out?^(A)” ¹⁸ But do not be afraid^(B) of them; remember well what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt.^{(C) 19} You saw with your own eyes the great trials, the signs and wonders, the mighty hand^(D) and outstretched arm, with which the Lord your God brought you out. The Lord your God will do the same to all the peoples you now fear.^{(E) 20} Moreover, the Lord your God will send the hornet^(F) among them until even the survivors who hide from you have perished. ²¹ Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you,^(G) is a great and awesome God.^{(H) 22} The Lord your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little.^(I) You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you. ²³ But the Lord your God will deliver them over to you, throwing them into great confusion until they are destroyed.^{(J) 24} He will give their kings^(K) into your hand,^(L) and you will wipe out their names from under heaven. No one will be able to stand up against you;^(M) you will destroy them.^(N)

Going to War

20 When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours,^(A) do not be afraid^(B) of them,^(C) because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with^(D) you.

⁴ For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you^(A) to fight^(B) for you against your enemies to give you victory.^(C)”
